Adoption Act changes will commence in December

Today, Cathy Taylor, Chief Executive of the Department for Child Protection, advised us that changes to the Adoption Act will commence on the 18 December 2017.

One of the primary changes that will happen on this day is changes to the adoption information veto system. From the 18 December 2017, each veto will be automatically extended for another 5 years, after which the veto system will be abolished. During this transition time, those with vetos in place are encouraged to make a ‘statement of wishes’ about contact. Our Post Adoption Support Service can support you with making this statement, and with other issues that may arise due to the Act changes. Please contact us on 8245 8100.
