Concept Design Presentations have taken place and our Post Adoption Support Service are pleased to announce that CHEB have been selected to move to the next stage of concept design development for the Commemorative Public Artwork for Past Forced Adoption Practices.
There were three proposals from Adelaide artists and it was exciting to see how well the artists responded to the brief with their high quality and relevant designs. The steering committee and the community members who attended the Concept Design Presentations felt that CHEB understood the artists brief well, and that their design proposal reflected the ongoing impact of forced adoption practices.
‘We wanted to say how excited and honoured we are to be chosen as the artists to make the Past Forced Adoptions Commemorative Public Artwork. We really appreciate the sharing and openness of the people’s experiences that gave us the background for this concept design. We look forward to working with you in the new year,’ said Deb and Christine, the two artists who make up CHEB art and design.
The Post Adoption Support Service would like to thank the community for attending the presentations and to all who participated in the focus groups and the online survey. The community involvement has been invaluable to help the artists gain knowledge and understanding about the impacts of adoption. The service would also like to acknowledge the steering committee and the artists who put so much work into creating their concept designs.
The Commemorative Public Artwork for the Past Forced Adoption Practices will be completed in time for the 4th Anniversary of the State Apology for Past Forced Adoption Policies and Practices, which will be on the 18 July 2016.
