I’m parent to one of the FYI participants. As a member of a family in long term turmoil and enduring various struggles on a daily basis, it has been a pleasure to welcome our case manager into our home. She has been a listening ear, understanding, flexible, someone to laugh with, a shoulder to cry on, a file of information, a messenger and has offered encouraging ideas to my daughter and myself. It has
been a very helpful and rewarding experience.

From my experience working with my case manager it has been absolutely fantastic, I feel very comfortable around her. She has helped me in many different ways from dealing with my depression to how to get back on track with my schooling to giving me opportunities I wouldn't otherwise have had. She has been a really great case worker, and I look forward to working with her more.

I like coming to my favourite place to play monopoly and hanging out with Natalie. I also like going places with her like to the park, Blackwood centre and Marion shopping centre. She helps me with my homework and I adore that. Wouldn't change a thing about her or our session.

Working with my case manager has been awesome. She's great to hang out, as a helper and someone to talk to about my problems. She is the most down to earth person and gets along with most kids well. She gave me the confidence to finish school/old school work and to be independent. It's hard to find counsellors/helpers like her; you can tell she really cares too. Not to mention she goes out of her way to come pick me up or see me. Even when I was sick in hospital my case manager would help me with work and visit me to see if I'm okay. I think she is the best person to work with and I don't think that will change.

I believe that Relationships Australia SA has the best services for people in need. I have had many adventures with quite a few case workers, including getting my pension which has been fun. I have gained much knowledge from RASA. I recommend anyone who needs support go to Relationships Australia SA.

Lauren

I was 18 years old when I first started with FYI. The last time I had attended mainstream school was when I was 14, I stopped attending because my social anxiety and stress was overwhelming me to the point where I was physically sick and crying every morning before school.

School has always been something that is very daunting to me and caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety, and I never believed I would have come this far. Through the support of the FYI program and my case workers, I've managed to get back into schooling and complete a TAFE course, as well as several independent courses in the field of my interest.

With the support and understanding of my case workers, I have achieved more than I ever thought possible of myself. I'm 22 years old now, living independently, and this year, I'm starting my university degree, which is something I have been dreaming of pursuing for years and never thought I would have the opportunity to do.

I'm immensely grateful for all the support I have received over the years and I would recommend this program to any young people who find themselves struggling and without adequate support.
