Indaba HIV – Together we can make a positive change!

On 17 November, the Indaba HIV website was officially launched by Relationship Australia South Australia’s PEACE Multicultural Services at the 2016 Australasian HIV & AIDS Conference.

Indaba, a Zulu word meaning gathering or meeting for the purpose of sorting out problems, is a collaborative partnership established in 2015 by the HIV Women’s Health Program of RASA. Indaba includes representatives from HIV services, government agencies, settlement services, individuals in the community, as well as women living with HIV. The Indaba group gathers every three months to address issues that relate to the health and wellbeing of women living with HIV in South Australia.

The Indaba HIV website has a strong link to RASA’s HIV Women’s Health Program. Other services offered by this program include therapeutic support, advocacy and leadership development.

Indaba HIV provides practical information and resources for women in South Australia living with HIV, their family members, friends and service providers. The website also serves as a space for women living with HIV to connect with peers and find out about relevant events, programs and groups that are taking place within the community. Indaba HIV includes specific information about:

Indaba HIV’s core purpose is to empower all women affected by, or at risk of HIV, to lead a healthy life that is free of stigma and discrimination. Indaba HIV sends a message of hope, that ‘together we can make a positive change’.
